Team Evolution

Orientation

The Dejjs team is cohesiveness of five distinctively unique individuals. Comprising of three girls and two guys. The team was formed based on prior acquaintance since the beginning of the class. Once the assignment was given, we reached out to each other and formed a team of five. The comfort level between one another grew stronger as we got to know each other better. It did take us some time, but eventually we were able to connect with each other, which created a much comfortable team to work with for all.


Conflict

After forming a team, the common norm was to appoint each person of the team an individual role, but in Team Dejjs, we did not particularly appoint a person to take on each role. Instead, we volunteered to take on roles which each of us found confident to take on. Everyone’s opinion, suggestions, and point of view was taken into consideration, and was taken to action or solved by all of us. Thus, roles of leaders and followers was not defined in the team, we were able to work with one another without the stand of authority.


Conflict and resistance did not surface in Team Dejjs, and it simplified all the work and roles which was assigned to each other, it definitely increased the speed level of work to be completed, since the all of us shared the same vision and objective of the creation, formation and appearance of the assignment. Fortunately, all of us shared a common goal and there wasn’t a hidden agenda, this made the ideas and thoughts for the assignment strengthen the bond we shared with each other. Simultaneously also displayed our compatibility of our team members which laid a strong foundation on our team dynamics which was able to perform efficiently.


Despite our gender, race, culture and background, we were able blend all those differences into a team spirit which helped us to form a stronger team. This broke the barriers which stand prevented us from the group enforced task, and it never interfered with our goals and made us work more efficiently and resourcefully. In short, the diversity of the team instead work to our advantage as it was able to give us variety and a source of improvement but never a hindrance.


Nonetheless, we did have of equal share of obstacles in completing the assignment. One was that all of us are stay in different locations and the other was that some of us worked part time, which made the meetings for the team a headache. The only solutions was to have our meetings right after or before classes. We made the meetings possible though each and every one of the team members, making our assignment to be completed in time.


Brainstorming

Working in a team can help and boost the productivity when we are given tasks. Being in a team, however, have their own advantages and disadvantages. Each team members can gather their own information and resources before they are finally compiled into one idea. Diversity of views between each member can also help the team to see things in different perspective that in the end will help the decision process. And also, working in a team can let loose more inspiration and bring in more energy.


Anyhow, as a team member it is our responsible to make the team effective. The first step is to make a clear objective on what to do step by step before the team reaches the mission. Each team member must also have a sense of purposes, why they are in the team, and must understand the task given inside out. Open communication is important because the ideas that will be gathered is the most important aspect to get the decision, that is why every member must be able to communicate. Creative thinking is required especially for conflicts that need extreme measures, because in the end the purpose of team working is to resolve conflicts.


By understanding the steps that have been mentioned earlier, in working in a team it is also important for us to work individually and do our own part. Having a sense of purpose important because understanding mission is a feeling that each member must have. All the decisions that are made in team actually started from individual ideas, that is why good communication in team is very important to get the message and ideas delivered.


The most exciting and interesting part of working in a team is probably when we brainstorm ideas. Flowing ideas are very good, but too much of them can harden the task of arrange the ideas into decisions. The process of creative thinking is the one that must be included in brainstorming session in order to resolve the conflicts. In order to do all of the steps, every team participant must participate by communicating clearly in a good manner.


Emergence

Once the objectives of the assignment has been established and ideas brought up from brainstorming, we came to a decision based on how the report is to be presented and how the blog is to be executed. We made sure that all the task has been assigned based on volunteer basis, and meeting timing has been set in order to have an update on the progress of the assignment


Reinforcement

By the time our final meeting was called before the assignment was due, all of the team members has made progress on their part of the assignment which was mostly task oriented, as each of them were given their own part and a specific deadline to be completed, so that the compiling and editing before finalizing and submitting. This drove to generate more ideas and coordination as a team pushing us to find for more information and set procedures. With this it saved us a lot of time thus accelerating the completion of the assignment as the self awareness was cultivated and the objective and procedure for the assignment was constantly reminded during the meetings, with this the development of the team reached a higher level because of the coordination and unity we have in completing the given task.


Communication

In the course of our teamwork, we have utilized a few communication styles. When it comes to flow of work, awareness of problems, decision making and productivity, we focused on using effective communication. With the use of decision making as a team, productivity was easily obtained despite having glitches every now and then. When it comes to processing ideas and opinions of each other, we made sure that mannerism and ethics were constantly followed and respected. In addition to that, we ensured that the perspective of business etiquette, respect, courtesy and common sense is always present when we work together. With the help the different styles, we came to realized that we have bonded closely with each other and also build a strong trust among one another. Thus encouraged us to strive towards completing our allocated task as soon as possible. We did not only meet up for meetings to get our work done, but we also spare some quality time to get to know one another, this made us to have a sense of significance in out team. Overall, forming a team and working with one another made us grow closer not only as a team but also as good friends.
